Article for the Paw Prints Newsletter Those that missed the mid-winter convention missed a great time. There are a few Lions that are a little stiff after the 50’s dancing, but they did have fun. Congratulations to the Parma and Nampa Lions Club for hosting and producing all the fun. Our International Director Dr. Beverly Roberts, the peach from Georgia was a delight and had Lions actively involved in her presentation. PID Floyd Miller warmed up the evening with some cold doctor stories that kept us all laughing. ID Dr. Beverly made a Presidential Appreciation Award on behalf of Lions International President Jimmie Ross. The rightful recipient was PDG Glenn Peterson for his work on getting Idaho a ret cam, his personal assistance work on the Foundation and his overseeing of the work on the new MD 39 Lions Foundation building. A great award to a great leader! At convention I was asked several times about my Git-R-Done Calf. She was born the afternoon we left to go to the Meridian Noon Club Chartering. Mother was not being cooperative so we left her with a hope and a prayer that everything would be okay. When we returned the next day, I knew she had moved and seemed to be alert. When I went to get her up to weigh her she let us know she was alive and active. She weighed in at 110 pounds, which is very large. She is wide, long and deep. Miss Git-R-Done is a fine looking animal and her sire Git-R-Done has been very successful. Although my cabinet is not quite complete, it came together more so over the weekend. I want to thank everyone that willingly stepped forward to leadership positions for 2007-08. I will announce them all later, but my right hand in Lionism will be Lion Brad Cottom, of the Rupert Lions as my cabinet secretary-treasurer. The Paw Prints Editor was another concern until Lion Cliff Hanks of the Burley Lions agreed to be my Paw Prints Editor. I was also relieved that I was elected by unanimous acclamation as DGE for 2007-08. When I began as VDG, I did not know that I was to immediately begin planning for my year as DG. Assignments from International First Vice President Mahendra Amarasuriya are thorough and in depth. My greatest fear and motivation is failure. With the support I’ve had to this point and the people that have agreed to be on the cabinet failure is out of the question and Lions will Git-R-Done! VDG Darrell Hatfield
