Kircher MD, 87, of Burley, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at his home. His fellow club members will greatly miss his presence and passion. November 2005 114 Eyeglasses donated to New Eyes for the Needy 10/16/05: 150 Special Olympians went through eye screening at Boise High School with great results. 9/12/05: Club donates $16,000.00 toward the construction of a picnic pavillion at Lex Kunau Park SIP Article 8/11/05: Eye screening will be happening on August 13, 2005. 8/11/05: Last month our club donated 185 pairs of eyeglasses. This month we are contributing toward two pairs of hearing aids with the help of LCIF. 7/30/05: The Spudman Triathlon is completed. Record numbers in attendance and the feedback on our improvements to the race experience have been very positive. 7/1/05: The new club officers were installed today at our club meeting. 6/10/05: It was announced that the new club officers for next year will be installed on July 1, 2005 6/3/05: Emails to the next 100 folks on the waiting list now eligible to register for the Spudman Triathlon have been sent. That registration opportunity closes on midnight of June 11th. We will evaluate our numbers at that point to decide if we will invite any more to register that still remain on the list. 5/27/05: The period allowed for the first 300 to register has expired. Those that didn't register for the race lose their spot and the rest of the list moves up. 5/16/05: An intensive waiting list process has been undertaken to accommodate the lucky 300 who are on the waiting list. There are more than 300 on the waiting list. 4/28/05: The club voted to support the Spudman Committee's recommendation that the Triathlon capacity be increased by 300, making the new total 1300. 4/14/05: The 2005 Spudman Triathlon registration reached the 1000 bib number limit. 3/11/05: Susan Tuft named Burley Lions "Citizen of the Year" 3/5/05: 2005 Burley Lions Charter Party took place at the Sweetheart Manor. 2/4/05: The charter party will be on March 5, 2005 at 7pm. The raffle prizes are a new shotgun, cuckoo clock, and TV-DVD-VCR combo. Board members are to furnish door prizes for the evening. 1/13/05: Lion Jack Z. reports that the Health Fair will be held on the first Saturday of March and he needs Lion members to assist him at the Health Fair. 1/1/05: The Burley Lions Club double matched donations made by citizens of the community at the "First Night" Centennial Celebration and sent off $500.00 to the victims of the Indian Ocean Tsunami through LCIF. 12/22/04: The Burley Lions Club will assist the Sage Lions on 12/31/04 and 1/1/05 at the Burley FIRST NIGHT CELEBRATION. See the Calendar link on the left for exact times. 12/9/04: The Burley Lions will help the Burley Sage Lions with Burley First Night Centennial Celebration to be held on January 1st, 2005, from 6p-11p at the Burley High School. Our help will probably consist of inflating 2000 balloons, security, clean up, and a possible monetary donation. Boys Basketball Registration is Wednesday December 8 & 9, 2004 at White Pine Intermediate School, from 5pm to 7pm. 11/11/04: Four Tuba cases were purchased by the club for the Burley High School Band at $375.00 each. 10/15/04: Our club added two new members! They are Jared Skaggs and Albert Lozoya. :-) 9/13/04: The Burley Lions Club sends $1000.00 to the LCIF to assist them in helping Floridians being hammered by multiple hurricanes. 9/3/04: It appears the final count on the number of Spudman Triathlon registrants in 2004 was 1030. 8/27/04: We will soon print the final statistics for the Spudman 2004 race as well as our fairbook ad 2004 sales. 8/13/04:Come help sell fairbooks for $1.00 at the Burley Fair and Rodeo on August 19, 20, and 21. Show up at 6pm. We need everyone that can be there, to be there. 8/5/04: The Fairbook Ad Sales are complete! The Burley Reminder is not apparently not accepting any more additions beyond 8/5/04. Thanks to everyone for their efforts and a special thanks to Lion Karl Detton and Lion Rob Oakes for coordinating the efforts and doing a lot of extra work on the project. 8/4/04: A large amount of feedback is flowing in through email from the participants in the 18th annual Spudman Triathlon. 98% of it is positive. Participants appreciate the enhancements our club made to the race in 2004. 7/27/04 at 6pm is the Big Spudman Triathlon Bag Stuffing Night at the Sweetheart Manor. Come one, come all. It's a big project! The new club officers were just elected and took their posts in June 2004. On January 1, 2004 the Sage Lions will be soliciting the Burley Lions Club help with the Burley Idaho Centennial Celebration at the King Fine Arts Center in Burley. Last month (April 2004) the Burley Lions sent 108 pairs of eyeglasses to New Eyes for the Needy. The Burley Lions helped the Sage Lions on 4/3/04 with their annual community breakfast. The club has agreed to pay for the meal cost of any guest in March 2004! 2004: The Board of Directors recently approved contributions to the Cassia County Historical Society as well as the Senior Citizens Center in Burley to assist with needed improvements. New eye screening machines have arrived and are being put to good use. They are apparently much easier to operate than the old machines. Dec 2003: Congratulations to the Burley Leo Club that we sponosor at Burley High School for reaching the 20 year mark. Thanks also to Lion Kent Fletcher for his leadership with the Leo Club! The 2003 Spudman Race counted over 1000 participants on July 26th, 2003. 2003: Thanks to everyone for their efforts in selling Fair Book Advertisements. And thanks to those local businesses who purchased advertising space. We'll see you again next year! Aug 2003: Through the coordination of Lion Jack Zarybnisky, our club recently gave away 120 pairs of eyeglasses to "New Eyes for the Needy".
