Yes, the race is full

Dear Spudman Registrants and frustrated unsuccessful registrants;

Yes, the Spudman is full.  It filled up in record time as many of you are well aware.  We hope to provide more technical information about how the registration process went, from a technical point of view, once we get a more complete report from active.com, our registration partner.   Stand by for more information once the dust settles.

active.com couldn't handle all of the activity...it would't let me log in, by the time the Webpage loaded registration was full. BOGUS!!!

I started registering for myself and my husband a few minutes before noon. I successfully registered just a few minutes after noon and when I tried to register my husband I received a notice which said there is a tecnhical problem it's being worked on this site which is Active.com. Then when I did get into the site to register my husband one of the steps in the registration process would not accept my husband's name and email stating some one else is registered by that same name and email address. So by the time I was able to get to the end of the registration process I received a notice stating it's been filled up, and it was 12:18 p.m. I just didn't think that was enough time. If there is some way that my husband can be on standby we would really, really appreciate it.
Thanks

What happened with registration this year? This is crazy that the process went so fast. I logged on at 12:10 MST and had my entry in and I got booted out by the active.com system. I tried again, and by the time I got my information entered, the race was full. Crazy.

I got in to register at 12:03 and got a message that the active.com site was having maintanence done on it, so kept trying and trying and finally go all the way through at 12:15 and it said it was full. I thought there must be some mistake. I have done this race for several years now. Perhaps a lotery system like the Canyonlands 1/2 marathon has gone to would be better. I would really like to be on a waiting list.

I tried to get on @ 12:01, but had the same problems as everyone else. I would love to be on the waiting list.

Please let us register in person for the 2009 spudman at the 2008 Race. It would take active.com out of the loop. I would rather pay a whole year in advance and get my whole family in then have it be hit and miss. It should not be too hard to set up a table and take registrations after the race. It would also let the Lyons earn more interest on the money so they can continue to do good things with the money.

I am not sure what the Lions club gets out of using Active.com, there has to be a better way to take care of the racers. The website is more concerned with selling magazines then registering racers. I got in, but we had planned a family reunion around this thing, but only half of us were able to fight through the website to get in. Is there a reason why they don't let people register for the next years race when they pickup their packets for this years race?

mad as hell. I have tried for 4 years now and once again....some difficulty has happened. I was on at 12:12 did the active.com gig and got kicked out tried again race is full. My friend was messing around at 11:45 just getting ready to register by noon. Bam! She got in. I played by the rules how in the world could it have filled in 12 minutes? Somebody jumped the gun. I suggest you re-open with some fair or real rules. I understand the safety and the cap.... Registration should follow suit. Lottery at least.

Now it makes more sense! People must have been able to register before noon! DUH - I didn't think of that. I was just sitting at my computer waiting until 12 sharp to pull the trigger. I'm pretty ticked off>

I tried from noon through to 12:30 with no success. Between Active's servers being constrained and receiving error messages on the credit card screen, it was impossible to get registration submitted. Very, very frustrating. I would really like to be on a wait list.

After 3 years I made it. I might end up sleeping in my car though, all the rooms are full. I'm on a waiting list with Best Western/Budget and it's 8 pages long. They havn't even set their prices yet. The lions club should split the race into two races over two weekends, that way everyone can compete.

What is wrong with midnight registration? Fewer Active.com users at that time might have saved some headaches. And what is the deal with Active opening registration before the posted time. I've been looking forward to this race all year and would like to be put on a waiting list if there is one. Otherwise, please tell me there was some egregious error, and we'll all get to register again.

I was finally able to get in after trying for two years! I think it helped that I registered with Active.com at about 11:30am before Spudman registration opened, that way I didn't waste time entering all my information once it opened. Also, I don't know if the clock on my computer was wrong, but I got in at about 11:50am...
